UF Cru Faculty Video

Some UF faculty answer the question, "Who is Jesus Christ?"

Posted by UF Christian Faculty Fellowship on Saturday, February 25, 2017

Most professors respond very positively to the video and are very interested in doing something similar at their university.

Ask the Christian professor if he/she could help you identify 5-9 Christian profs at your university that would be appropriate to include in such a video. If you can identify 5-9 profs, send them an email similar to the following:

Dear Dr. Jones,
My name is Joyce Dmitri and I am on staff with Cru at the University of Georgia. Dr. Christianson suggested that I get in touch with you. Professors who confess their faith in Christ can have a powerful influence in the lives of students.
Our ministry is putting together a short video of Christian professors to show at our Cru meeting this year. We have seen the inspiring video of Purdue professors that is linked below and think that it would be very powerful to do something similar at UGA.
Would you take 90 seconds to look at the video linked here and let me know if you would be available to participate with 6-7 other professors in a similar video for UGA? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQd_V-B_0js
We could work out the script ahead of time and arrange for a convenient time to shoot the video.
Thanks for your consideration of this. I hope you will be available to participate. I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Joyce

If you are able to get enough professors to participate:

  • Find a student or volunteer that is great with video and sound
  • Set up a “studio” for the taping the video. Remember – the audio has to be GREAT. If you can’t understand them because of background noise or poor sound quality, it’s worthless
  • Contact the professors to let them know when and where the videotaping will take place (i.e. Wednesday 2-5pm in the Resurrection Presbyterian Church narthex)
  • Ask them to send a script beforehand so you can make sure there is not a lot of overlap or inappropriate communication. Tell them it can only be 2-3 sentences and it should be something that they believe in so strongly that they would be willing to die for it.
  • A staff person needs to be around to watch the videotaping and make sure it’s done with excellence. The professors won’t mind re-taping 3-4 times if that’s what it takes.
  • After the taping, work with the videographer to edit the video for your group
